Please explain the advertisement: “Fur is Green”?
Fur IS green! Fur is a natural product that comes from nature and when you are done using the garment, goes back to nature. Your fur coat will be used for many years, probably passed on before finally ending up in the landfill site. At that point, it will simply disappear back into the ecosystem. A synthetic coat is a petroleum byproduct that will take forever to break down once discarded.
What is tuscan lamb?
Many of the unlined, luxuriously warm coats at Yes Virginia are made from tuscan lamb. This is a specialty product from Italy that is half goat,
half lamb. It has the warmth of a traditional shearling coat with the lightness and silkiness of goat.
What is nutria?
Nutria is a beaver like rodent found in Latin America. They are most destructive creatures that burrow into the underside of the riverbanks, killing the tree roots and causing catastrophic erosion to occur. They have been deemed an environmental hazard causing the government to put a bounty on the skins. The trapping helps the environment, supplies the trappers with healthy, lean meat and keeps us warm in the winter!
What makes nutria so soft?
The nutria has 3 layers of fur. (similar to the beaver) The outer guard layer is very coarse and hard and is always removed. The second layer has a bright iridescent sheen that is normally removed, but sometimes left on for a shiny look. The incredibly soft inner layer is the one that causes people to hug themselves whenever they put on a nutria coat!
What should I do when I come in from the rain and my leather coat is wet?
It’s easy! Put your coat on a good wide hangar and let it dry away from heat, with lots of air around it. Yes Virginia smooth leather is fine in the rain. It will recover beautifully. Sueded leathers and antelope suede are fine in the rain, but only if you love the weathered look. If you want to keep them pristine, then, leave them for the sunny days.
What does compassionate fashion stand for?
Be proud that your Yes Virginia article is hand crafted in a respectful, clean and safe environment. All workers are adults who are paid a professional, proud, living wage.
What makes kid gloves so special?
Kid gloves are the absolute best, the most luxurious and the most sought after gloves in the world. The supple nature, the phenomenal longevity and the spectacular look are just a few of the reasons people seek out kid gloves.

Where does leather originate?
Argentina has a close relationship with Italy with leather production. Much of the lamb is shipped from Argentina to Italy for tanning (they still are the best!) and then returned to Argentina for production. The goat leather is tanned entirely in Argentina and they are considered the best in the world for goat leather.
My leather pants are stretching. What should I do?
Again, this is easy! An iron is to leather like the dryer is to jeans. Seriously! There is only one way to iron leather though. The iron MUST BE DRY- NO STEAM! Always cover the leather with a dry cloth and use a dry iron on medium heat.
Where do the pearls come from?
China. China is now a top producer of quality pearls. I go directly to the source, bypassing all sorts of agents and resellers, allowing me to sell excellent pearls at a fraction of normal retail prices. Many of our pearls are professionally appraised in Canada. Please ask for a copy of the appraisal.
Where do your leathers come from?
The best lamb leather in the world comes from Italy, so that is where our lamb is tanned. The best goat leather in the world comes from Argentina, so that is where our goat is from.
Do you design your own purses?
Rarely. We have many contacts in Argentina who do a stunning job of purse designs, so I simply buy from these talented people.
Where do your scarves come from?
We always search out the best suppliers in the world. The baby alpaca scarves come from Peru, the silk scarves from China and India and wool scarves are from India. Increasingly, India is producing the top scarves in the world.
What types of leathers do you use?
We generally use lamb leather for the smooth, traditional look. Goat leather is best for unlined or reversible garments. Calf leather is what we periodically use for a heavier weight and rarely, we even use pig leather!
Are all your purses leather?
Absolutely! The use of petroleum byproducts isn’t going to happen at Yes Virginia!
